Unlike paper diaries, Trail provides instant access to all task completion data—no more traveling site-to-site to sift through pages of compliance records. Our Task Reports dashboard is designed to meet a variety of customer needs, but custom reporting can save time by providing insights that reflect the unique priorities of your business.
Trail’s Task & Score APIs empower your organisation to create custom dashboards, enabling seamless integration with your BI solution. With support from your internal or external data team, you’ll be able to design dashboards that align perfectly with your specific reporting requirements.
Getting started
To start using our API, simply contact a member of our Support Team through the in-app chat, and they will enable this functionality for your account.
Once enabled, you'll want to introduce the appropriate members of your team to Trail. Like any other user, they'll need an invitation to Trail, and should be granted Admin-level access to the system.
Once they can access Trail, your team will first need to generate a Task Reports API key from Company Settings.
Towards the bottom of this page is a section called Task Reports API. They'll need to click the "Create a new API key" button you see here.
This link contains all of the API documentation your technical team should refer to for guidance on how to effectively use the API.
Bespoke dashboards
Your technical team will need your input in order to create dashboards that will be most helpful to you and others! Ask yourself:
What filters do you most commonly apply on our Reports? How would you like to view these as trends?
Are there certain metrics that are important to your business?
Certain groups of tasks (tags) that need special focus?
Do you need an overview of each Area on Trail? Particular groups of users?
Our Task and Score APIs mean that your team will be able to present any of the data that you access from Task Reports in a view specific to your business needs.
