Why can't I submit my task?

A few things to look out for before you can complete your task

Sometimes you might see a warning message when you press the done button. If this happens you won’t be able to save your task until you’ve completed everything.

Below are some things you'll want to look out for.


Have you completed all your checklist items?

You'll want to make sure that all of the checklist actions are completed and checked off before marking the task as done.

If you're not able to complete a checklist item, you can hit the flag on the right-hand side and select 'Can't Complete'. It's always a good idea to leave a comment to explain why.

Once you've flagged the item, you should be able to submit the task without any issues. For more information about flagging checklist items, check out this article.

💡 Note: Not every task needs you to complete all of the checklist items. This is decided by your Trail admin, but checklists require everything to be ticked off as default.


Have you completed everything in your record log?

Some record logs have fields that are mandatory, this means that you won't be able to complete the task until you've entered the required information.

You can spot mandatory fields by the red asterisk next to the text box. You'll also see a warning message in the record log after trying to press done.


Have you attached all the necessary files or comments?

To submit some tasks, you'll have to add a comment or photo. These tasks will have a description next to the comment box to let you know what else you need to do before you can complete the task.

Once you've added in all the extra files or comments, you'll be able to submit the task.


Have you raised all of the required actions?

Some Record Log fields will have a required follow-up action assigned e.g. Out of range temperatures or an answer in an Options field.

If this setting has been applied, an action will have to be raised before the task can be completed. Find out more about Corrective Actions here.

💡 Note: Not every Record Log will have a mandatory action assigned to it. This is decided by your Trail admin. Corrective Actions are only available to Standard Plan users.
