Review comments added by team members when completing tasks to gain additional context on tasks

The comments functionality enables users to add further information to a task, providing vital context & supporting evidence when looking at historical records.

When looking at reporting, admins can see immediately what their teams have commented on, providing context straight away. Admins will no longer have to contact sites individually to get more information, saving time, money, and potentially a journey!

How do I review comments added by the team?

Comments added to tasks can be reviewed in a few ways:

  • The Task Reports page - There is a shortcut available on the left-hand side of the Task Reports page which will apply a filter for viewing just tasks with comments

  • The Search Tasks page - Once you have navigated to the Complete Tasks page of site you would like to view comments for, you can hit the 'Search Tasks' button and select the task you would like to review. From there, you can apply the 'Exceptions' filter and choose 'Comments' to view the comments added to a task.

  • On the Complete Tasks page - When going through the days tasks on the Complete Tasks page of a site, you will be able to review comments left by the team. Overall Comments have a speech bubble indicator next to a closed task when they have been added (see below), and inline comments have a numerical indicator next to the item they were added to.


How can comments be added?

There are two types of comments in Trail:

  • Overall Task Comments - The comments box is available beneath every task by default, this allows teams to comment on the task as a whole.

  • Inline comments - Inline comments allow teams to add a comment to a checklist item or Record Log item, letting them add specific information about a particular piece of work within a task. Here's more info on adding inline comments.

Files & Photos can also be added to Inline comments and the comments box to provide extra information.
